Cupcake Royale in Madrona gets a Facelift

Cupcake Royale in Madrona is being remodeled!  To facilitate the work Cupcake Royale has limited their hours recently.  Instead of their regular 6 AM to 7 PM hours (7 AM to 7 PM on Sundays) they have been either closed early or closed all together.  This will continue for the next two days when the Madrona Cupcake Royale will be opened from 6 AM to 5 PM both on December 29th and 30th.  It looks like there will be normal hours on New Year’s Eve with the store opening at 8 AM on New Year’s Day.

Come check out the new updates at Cupcake Royale!

Former Leschi Resident to Help Bring NBA Back to Seattle

Seattle SonicsAccording to the Seattle Times, a former Leschi Resident, Christopher Hansen, is working to consolidate land south of Safeco in the hopes of building a basketball/hockey arena.  Hansen, who now runs a San Francisco hedge fund, is working with unknown local people to build a facility that will lure a NBA team and/or NHL team to Seattle.  Click the link to read more about the possible new Seattle arena.

Another Madrona: Madrona Manor

Madrona Tree SculptureOften I search for “Madrona” related terms on Google and I come across the usual suspects, one of which is the Madrona Manor.  Madrona Manor is a boutique hotel in the California wine country about 65 miles north of San Francisco.  Looks like a really nice inn and a good place for Madrona residents to visit since they share our name and our neighborhood’s apparent love for wine (Wilridge Winery, Bottlehouse, Madrona Wine Merchants, etc).

Another good reason to visit Madrona Manor is the inn was recognized by Travel + Leisure as one of the Best U.S. Hotels for the Holidays.  Ironically, if you do not want to travel that far to visit a top hotel for the holidays, then you have to go no further than Downtown Seattle and visit Hotel Vintage Park (map) which was also featured by Travel + Leisure.  If you do not have plans for Christmas Eve, there may be time to book a reservation at the hotel restaurant: Tulio.  Enjoy a traditional Italian Christmas Eve feast centered around seven courses of seafood; a special edition to their regular menu.

Madrona Business Owner Wins Entrepreneur of Year

GlassybabyMadrona business owner and founder of Glassybaby, Lee Rhodes, won the Entrepreneur of the Year Award for 2011 from Entrepreneur Magazine.  It is a huge honor to receive from the internationally distributed magazine.  A nice article was written about Rhodes and how the business came to be.  Click the link to check out the full article about Rhodes and Glassybaby.

Exciting New Restaurant Coming to Madrona

June SeattleA new restaurant is coming to Madrona early next year.  The restaurant, Bea, will take over the space that was occupied by June.  Stayed tuned to the blog for more details as the opening of the restaurant draws closer; but here is a little introduction from the Bea of what to expect from the restaurant:

We’re excited to be in our gorgeous space in Madrona. Restaurant Bea, led by Tom Black and Kate Perry, will be laid-back but polished, a warm and cozy spot for friends and family to come together. We’re pairing Tom’s amazing food with impeccable service and a spirited ambiance for our community in Madrona and food-lovers around the city.

Christmas Tree Shopping in Madrona

Madrona Christmas TreesIf you still do not have your Christmas tree, then you can drop down to MLK and Union and pick one out.  In the north parking lot of Grocery Outlet they are selling Christmas trees.  If you live in Madrona you could probably have a tree up in your house in 20 minutes or less (not counting decorating).  And if you do not want a real tree, you just might be able to find a fake one in Grocery Outlet.

Rumor is: June Restaurant Closes in December

June SeattleMadrona’s June Restaurant is rumored to be closed.  It is sad to see any Madrona restaurant close, but if the rumor is true, unfortunately June has served their last meal.
