Reminder: Outdoor Movie Night at Madrona Playfield This Week!

The Avengers

If you’re looking for something fun to do this week, don’t forget about the outdoor movie playing at the Madrona Playfield on Thursday August 8th! This week’s movie night event is sponsored by St Cloud’s, Girlie Press, and produced by Lunar Flicks. The feature film will be the Avengers, the 2012 action packed smash hit with the witty Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, and many many more…and Thor! The movie will begin at dusk, but you’ll likely want to get there early to scope out a good seat. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring blankets to sit on the grass, so everyone of any size can have an unobscured view of the big screen. Suggested donations are $5, which would benefit Seattle Parks and Recreation, so BYO popcorn and candy and come join your neighbors for a fun filled evening at the movies!

Don’t Miss Madrona Neighborhood Night Out!

Next Tuesday August 6th, the City of Seattle will be celebrating the 29th annual neighborhood Night Out against crime event, and there will be block parties all over the city, including several in Madrona! Bring your friends and family out to visit with the neighbors, and bring a side dish or beverages to share with the block at this fun filled night out. There are a few block parties in Madrona registered with the City of Seattle, and keep your eyes and ear peeled for other areas that may not have registered. There will be a 29th Ave block party on the 800 block of 29th,  one at 1565 Grand Ave, in the 1500 block of Grand Ave & Madrona Drive, a 31st Ave party which will be closing the 400 block of 31st Ave between E Jefferson St & E Terrace, and another 31st Ave party closing the 200 block of 31st between Spruce & Alder Street, (see map below for exact locations).

Night Out

The “Night Out” event is a National event to promote crime prevention, and this years theme is “Celebrating Crime Free Neighborhoods.” If you have noticed a decline in crime in Madrona, it is time to get together with neighbors and celebrate our safety, and work towards goals to keep crime to a minimum. If you’re out driving Tuesday evening, please be cautious of the blocks that are closed, and aware of the extra people out on the street. All Night Out events begin at 6PM until around 9PM, hope to see you out!
