Ginny Conrow’s Holiday Show is November 13th-15th

Opening Night:

Friday, November 13th, 4pm-9pm

The Weekend:

Saturday and Sunday, November 14th & 15th, 10am-5pm

1429 34th Ave | Seattle, WA 98122

Come by and see the studio all dressed up for the holidays!

The show will include gorgeous gemstone and pearl jewelry by Susan Goodwin. She’ll be introducing new vintage crystal as well as some exquisite grouped opal pieces.

Kate Beck adds texture and melodic color with her luxurious shibori silk scarves and accessories.

And Barbi Lock Lee is back from Australia with a small collection of her colorful pieces, often accented by hand formed birds.

Ginny Conrow is a passionate sweet soul, a celebrated ceramic potter and artist, and a knowledgeable and inspiring teacher. Her pieces are elegant, graceful and the unique glazes showcase the delicate carnal beauty of it all.

Ginny will be showing a collection of new pieces and glazes, some of which were thrown in Mexico and many more that were made this summer and autumn in Seattle.

Ginny will be leaving in late November to spend four months in Mexico making pottery, followed by two months in Australia, visiting friends and teaching a few workshops. The Studio will reopen by appointment in July. So this is your chance to grab a few wonderful pieces to hold you over until she is back.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Family Biking Workshop June 28th

green-bikeFamily Bikers (and aspiring bikers) –

Are you interested in biking more with your family, but not sure how to get started? Or have you been doing it awhile, and want an infusion of excitement and information? Are you tired of waiting in the line of cars during preschool/school drop-off/pick-up? Do you have questions about safety, equipment, practicality, or whether you can “do it”? If so, then this highly participatory 3 hour workshop is for you!

Bring your questions, concerns and curiosity for a lively session of information and discussion. Learn: What are the biggest hazards, and how to avoid them. What equipment is out there and what are the pluses and minuses of each. What to do about hills and rain. What resources are available to support you on your journey, and more!

Taught by veteran family-biker Morgan Scherer in an in-home setting, this session is relaxed and supportive of all questions, levels of fitness, and goals. Get the information and support you need to make the best transportation decisions for your family. For the last half hour we will be outside looking at different family biking setups, and trying them out. Bring your helmet if you have one (there will also be helmets available to borrow).

This Friday, May 15th, the Madrona Farmers Market kicks off the season, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the corner of MLK and E Union Street (Madrona Grocery Outlet). With more favorites returning like Olsen Farms (provider of fine locally raised meats & sausages), Kirsop Farms (read: FRESH Produce! Their produce is harvested within 24 hours of the market shopping hours), and newcomers, like Sweet Caroline’s, (offering gourmet jams and shrubs), this season’s market will have your needs covered.

This year’s farmers market will have over 30 vendors offering a mix of seasonal produce, flowers, sustainably caught fish, prepared foods, artisanal sips and savories, sweet treats and locally produced crafts.

Friday is set to be (mostly) sunny with a high of 68 degrees and with the excitement of opening day in the air, there is no excuse for your absence at this seasonal neighborhood event. So, round up the kids, pack your reusable bags, and meet your fellow neighbors while stocking up on prime local produce and products. Remember, our farmer’s rely on the support of their community to continue providing the amazing things they do, make sure they know how appreciative we are to have a Farmers Market in our neighborhood!
