Lord of the Rings in Madrona

Madrona Tree SculptureBOOM and Madrona Community Council has been working with Cleanscape to add street art to the Madrona Business District.  As blogged earlier in the year, Cleanscape awarded Madrona along with several other neighborhoods an award for reducing our waste 19%.  Originally Cleanscape was to build a play area in the Arboretum but the logistics could not be negotiated with the city.  Thus, Madrona is set to get brass tree rings set flush with the sidewalk (think Seattle Broadway dance steps)  with a historic picture of the neighborhood inlaid into the rings.  In addition, there will be leaves cut into the cement between the rings.  Finally, there will be a bench made with the same theme at the northeast corner of 34th and Union.  Look for the addition to the Madrona Business District in the near future.

Madrona 34th and Union Festival

Madrona Tree SculptureBOOM‘s second annual Madrona 34th and Union Festival is planned for Saturday, July 16th!  Exciting news that this fun event will continue and hopefully become a tradition in the Madrona neighborhood for years to come.  While I have not seen official announcements, the time should be the same as last year when the event went from noon to 6 PM.  Together with live music there will be fun for all including, food, drink, sidewalk sales, and something special for kids!

Bring your friends & join Madrona on 34th and Union on Saturday, July 16th!

BOOM Shakalaka

Madrona Seattle

Banners in Madrona Business District

BOOM – When I hear BOOM, I think about different things.  The first thing to come to mind is Kevin Calabro yelling “BOOM SHAKALAKA!!!” after a Sonic throws down a thunderous dunk.  I also envision the movie Army of Darkness when Ash announces to the stunned crowd, “This is MY BOOMSTICK!!!”  But living in Madrona, it also makes me think of BOOM:  Business Owners Of Madrona.

BOOM has quietly promoted Madrona and the business district over the years and has done a great job.  Meeting monthly and under the tagline “Madrona is a quintessential Seattle urban neighborhood with the flair of a metropolitan city wrapped in a warm, friendly setting,” Madrona and its businesses have grown to be a popular place for Madrona residents and Seattleites to enjoy.  Working with the Madrona Community Council, BOOM has volunteered time and funds for things like Madrona Mayfair and the Madrona Blossoms.
