I’m mostly a Pinot Noir and Malbec kind of gal, but nothing screams summer quite like a nice glass of Rose; better yet, a fine glass of Rose on Bottlehouse’s outdoor patio. This Friday June 21st, Madrona’s favored wine curators are launching their “Summer Rose Days” series with free tastings of 12+ hand picked Rose wines, and there will be a DJ entertaining from 6pm until the festivities die down later in the night. If you aren’t able to attend the launch party, never fear, Bottlehouse will be offering 10 glass pours of various styles of Rose throughout summer, ask for the latest whenever you arrive.
Several of the Madrona businesses came together and produced a map of the Madrona Business District. The map features most of the Madrona restaurant and shops located between Al Larkins Park and Madrona Playground. The map includes Pritty Boys Pizza, Bottlehouse, Hi Spot, Molly Moons, Hitchcock Madrona, Naam, Glassybaby, Turkuaz, Kismet Salon, Juniper, Cupcake Royale, Nena Gifts, St. Clouds, Davenport, and Restaurant Bea. Unfortunately there are some noticeable exclusions including Cafe Soleil and Madrona Ale House; nevertheless, it reminds us of the many options that our Madrona neighborhood has to offer. If you want a map, stop by one of the participating businesses and pick one up.
It’s that time of year again! The 5th annual Dine Out to benefit Madrona K-8 will be held next Tuesday April 9th, by dining at participating restaurants and establishments around Madrona. Proceeds from the event will go towards benefiting music and arts programs at the school, and is sponsored by the Madrona K-8 PTSA. If you’d like to participate in the event, simply dine out at one of the following restaurants next Tuesday:
Everyone support the kids and eat out next week Madrona!
It used to be the norm for quite some time, and then they pulled the shades on Sundays; now the young owners of Madrona’s favored wine bar Bottlehouse have graciously opened their doors 6 days a week, (closed Mondays).
They’re now uncorking the bottles from noon-9pm Sundays, and offering an all-day happy hour with specials including $4 drafts, $4 Imbue vermouth-on-tap, and $6 sake Bloody Marys and mimosas, as well a rotating cheese board, and small bites menu. If you’re looking for a fun date night, or something to do with the girls this Sunday, you can now add Bottlehouse back to the list of eateries open in the neighborhood.
Reminder: Madrona will be celebrating Halloween on Halloween night this year starting at 4:30 at the Madrona Shelterhouse next to the tennis courts at the Madrona Playground. - Treats for all who complete the scavenger hunt @ Madrona Elementary
- Adult Trick or Treat Bar @ St. Clouds
- Kids in costume get a free dinner from the kids menu at Restaurant Bea
- Sip & Scream @ Bottlehouse with spiced cider, mulled wine and bar, treats for adults, bobbing for apples and games for kids.

Often I search for “Madrona” related terms on Google and I come across the usual suspects, one of which is the Madrona Manor. Madrona Manor is a boutique hotel in the California wine country about 65 miles north of San Francisco. Looks like a really nice inn and a good place for Madrona residents to visit since they share our name and our neighborhood’s apparent love for wine (Wilridge Winery, Bottlehouse, Madrona Wine Merchants, etc).
Another good reason to visit Madrona Manor is the inn was recognized by Travel + Leisure as one of the Best U.S. Hotels for the Holidays. Ironically, if you do not want to travel that far to visit a top hotel for the holidays, then you have to go no further than Downtown Seattle and visit Hotel Vintage Park (map) which was also featured by Travel + Leisure. If you do not have plans for Christmas Eve, there may be time to book a reservation at the hotel restaurant: Tulio. Enjoy a traditional Italian Christmas Eve feast centered around seven courses of seafood; a special edition to their regular menu.
