Seattle Christmas Ships Kick Off Voyage Leaves Leschi Tonight

Christmas ShipsIt is still November, but the Argosy Christmas Ships kick off voyage leaves the Leschi Marina tonight at 7 PM.  While the kick off voyage is tonight, the Christmas Ships will not be visiting Madrona until December 22nd at 9:45 PM.  Mark your calendar for the event which will take place at Madrona Beach near Spectrum Theater.

If you have young children and the Madrona Beach Christmas Ship visit is too late, consider going to Madison Park Beach on the same night.  The Argosy Christmas Ships will visit Madison Park at 4:55 PM on December 22nd.

Check out Argosy’s website for the entire Seattle Christmas Ship schedule.

Christmas Tree Shopping in Madrona

Madrona Christmas TreesIf you still do not have your Christmas tree, then you can drop down to MLK and Union and pick one out.  In the north parking lot of Grocery Outlet they are selling Christmas trees.  If you live in Madrona you could probably have a tree up in your house in 20 minutes or less (not counting decorating).  And if you do not want a real tree, you just might be able to find a fake one in Grocery Outlet.

Christmas Ships at Madrona Beach

Seattle Christmas ShipsThe grand finale of the Very Merry in Madrona this weekend is the stroll down to Madrona Park to watch the Christmas Ships.  The Christmas Ships, a Seattle tradition for 62 years, will stop in front of Madrona Beach between 9:25 and 9:45 PM on Saturday night (December 3rd).  Come and enjoy brightly decorated ships and the holiday songs by the Dickens Carolers while standing by a warm bonfire on Madrona Beach.

To get there you can either head straight there or join the candle light walk which leaves from the middle of the Madrona business district (34th and Union) at 8:45 PM.  The candle light route will wind down the hill taking Union to 38th to Grand Avenue to Spring and through Madrona Woods down to Madrona Beach.  (See previous link for the route).  Spectrum Dance will provide hot chocolate and cider and lead a dance circle on the beach.

Flashlights and warm clothes are recommended.  The Seattle forecast looks to be clear but cold.

If you have little ones at home, the Madrona Christmas Ship schedule may be late for your family.  You may want to consider going to Mount Baker neighborhood on Sunday night where they will have three shows: Ferdinand Street Park (the boats will be in the bay between Seward Park and Lake Washington Boulevard) from 5:40 to 6:00 PM; Stan Sayres Memorial Park (aka The Pitts) from 6:15 to 6:35 PM; and Mt. Baker Beach Park from 6:45 to 7:05 PM.  Monday the Christmas Ships will be at Seward Park starting at 8:25 PM or you can wait until Saturday, December 17th when the Christmas Ships will be at Madison Park Beach from 4:55 to 5:15 PM.  You can also check the full schedule of stops to find a date and place that is convenient to you.
