  • Recap of Annual Wine Tasting/MCC Fundraiser
  • Discussion of the 40th annual Madrona Mayfair. Please come with ideas for special activities to commemorate this anniversary event for the neighborhood.
  • General community updates including: SDOT request for a traffic-speed study on 34th Avenue, an update on SDOT traffic plan along Union Street (comments from the SDOT/BRT Open House in November), discuss lighting plan – SDOT replacement plan for acorn lights in the Madrona Business District, results of Madrona PTSA grant for reader board on Union, and an update on the stage project at Madrona Park.

  • Final planning for the annual wine tasting fundraiser event taking place November 14
  • Initial planning for the 40th (!) annual Madrona Mayfair

MCCIt’s time to get back in the swing of things for fall in the neighborhood, and this month’s Madrona Community Council meeting will be held next Tuesday, September 8. This month’s Madrona Community Council meeting is taking place tonight, Feb. 3, at the Madrona Park shelterhouse. Join the council and your neighbors to discuss the following topics:

  • A community letter opposing marijuana shops in the surrounding neighborhood
  • Discussion of sending a letter to the City regarding future funding for the “Trees and Sidewalks” plan
  • Updates on Neighborhood Appreciation Day, Kraus Fund scholarship applications, Madrona Mayfair, etc.
  • Budget report
  • New business: Amara property, participation in the Madison Bus Rapid Transit study and ongoing issues with Metro

Madrona Community Council Meeting Next Tuesday October 7

MCCThis month’s Madrona Community Council meeting is taking place next Tuesday, October 7, at 7:15 p.m. at the Shelterhouse. It will be a short meeting, addressing the traffic study in progress on Dorffel Drive in Denny Blaine (read more about that here), and a planned apartment development project at MLK & Union. The discussion will be followed by a meet and greet with community council members and an opportunity to learn about volunteer opportunities in the neighborhood. Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Photographer for Mutt Match Up for the Madrona News
  • Leaders for Madrona Blossoms
  • Chair/co-chair for the spring Madrona Mayfair event
  • Help with the 25th Madrona Neighborhood Awards Ceremony on February 7
  • Garden Tour possibilities
  • Summer Concert series at the playfield
