The Madrona Community Council has been hosting a Halloween celebration for the little ghosts and goblins of Madrona since 1995, and this year is no exception. A kickoff event at the Shelterhouse at the Madrona playground will take place between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. on the 31st, and volunteers are needed to provide sweet treats (either candy or baked goods) for the trick-or-treaters. E-mail Stacey Kryman at email@example.com if you would like to volunteer. More info to come on all the Madrona Halloween festivities!

The Madrona Community Council meets at 7:15 PM on the first Tuesday of the month (except for July and August) at the Madrona Shelterhouse by the tennis courts at the Madrona Playground. The next meeting is this Tuesday, November 6th, at the normal start time: 7:15 PM. The meeting agenda was originally going to include another discussions regarding the Madrona street tree and sidewalk but a number of interested neighbors as well as the Seattle Department of Transporation representatives were unable to attend the meeting so this topic has been pushed back to the December meeting. So far the agenda for the November meeting include 1) a recap of Halloween Event and Wine Event, 2) Wreath Sales And Wreath Pick Up Plans, and 3) Madrona Community Council Elections. The meeting is open to all Madrona residents and the general public.
I will make this quick since I feel like Madrona Halloween activities have been well covered on our blog. There has been confusion on the start time of Halloween. The Madrona Shelterhouse was to open at 4:30, but the Madrona Halloween Poster says 4-7 so the Shelterhouse will try to be open at 4 PM today. Madrona K-8 is scheduled to open at 5 PM. Madrona K-8 is the end of the scavenger hunt.

Reminder: Madrona will be celebrating Halloween on Halloween night this year starting at 4:30 at the Madrona Shelterhouse next to the tennis courts at the Madrona Playground. Business Owners of Madrona have planned a traditional scavenger hunt along 34th Avenue with the participating businesses and the party will end at Madrona K8 School with fun lasting until 7pm.
- Treats for all who complete the scavenger hunt @ Madrona Elementary
- Adult Trick or Treat Bar @ St. Clouds
- Kids in costume get a free dinner from the kids menu at Restaurant Bea
- Sip & Scream @ Bottlehouse with spiced cider, mulled wine and bar, treats for adults, bobbing for apples and games for kids.
I have blogged about Madrona’s Trick or Treat festivities, but the Madrona business district is not the only local area hosting Halloween. The Leschi business district is also hosting trick or treating on Halloween night this year. This year’s Halloween trick or treating in Leschi is from 4 PM to 6 PM.
Saint Therese Catholic School in Madrona is having their fourth annual Halloween Carnival Saturday, October 27th from 11 AM to 2 PM. Activities including everything from bouncy house to throwing a fishing hook over a curtain and pulling out a surprise. It is a great event for young kids, if you are in the Madrona neighborhood come on by St. Therese – everyone is welcome.
