Wreaths for Sale in Madrona

Madrona WreathIt’s that time a year again.  Yes, it is the time for giving thanks, being with family, and making resolutions for the new year, but that is not what I am talking about here.  It is the time to buy stuff!  🙂  For example, you can buy holiday swag to support Montlake Elementary, holiday trees from Stevens Elementary (and eat pancakes while you are at it!),  or you can support the Madrona neighborhood by buying wreaths online.  I am biased since I am on the Madrona Community Council and do not have kids at Montlake or Stevens, but I cannot fault you for supporting any or none of them because there are so many options this time of year.  All I can do is tell you that wreaths bought through Madrona Community Council go to help support: Madrona News newsletter that is mailed free to all homes in Madrona; Neighborhood Appreciation Day Awards celebration; Neighborhood Garage Sale; 34th Avenue Flower Baskets; 34th Avenue Winter Green Swags and Lights; Madrona Mayfair; Children’s Halloween Party at Madrona Shelterhouse; and Neighborhood Summer/Fall Clean-up Day.  Here are more details on the Madrona Wreaths as written by Kevin O’Doherty, Madrona resident and MCC member:

This season, Madrona Community Council is teaming up with Growing Washington—a consortium of local farmers who practice sustainable and organic growing–to produce and sell hand-crafted holiday wreaths. The stunning wreaths are created from organically grown, hand-harvested crops and wild foliage collected from the North Cascade foothills. The Douglas fir base is accented with materials that vary in color, texture, and fragrance such as pine cones, variegated holly, pussy willow, red dogwood, yellow cedar, blue cypress, Oregon grape, and juniper with berries. The 22-inch door size wreaths are $30; all proceeds support MCC activities throughout the year including the Halloween party, Mayfair, and this [the Madrona] newsletter.

These wreaths will look and smell incredible at your home. And they will thrill anyone on your gift list, be it out-of-town family and friends or holiday party hosts. You can set yourself apart this year with a gift wreath, and keep the bottle of wine for yourself.

If you buy a wreath sponsored by Madrona, the wreaths will be available for pick up on Saturday, December 7th, from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Amara parking lot on the corner of 34th and Union.  Happy Holidays!
