Woman Robbed At Gunpoint on 27th & E.Union

Wednesday night, around 11:30pm a woman was assaulted and robbed at a bus stop on the North side of Union st near 27th while on her way to the airport. The police report says that three suspects walked past the woman at the bus stop, then doubled back around a wooden fence and went behind her. One of the suspects pointed a semi-automatic hand-gun at  her.  He is described to be a black male in his 20’s, 6’1″ with a slim build, short hair, black baseball cap, white polo shirt, and baggy jeans. When the woman began screaming, the man with the gun punched her in the face. The other 2 suspects tried to steal her bags while dragging her across the sidewalk. A passerby saw what was taking place and he rushed over to her aid. He was able to grab the first suspect, but the suspect swung his arm and escaped. The two other suspects escaped with her messenger bag and suitcase. Police and K9’s were on the scene, but were not able to find the suspects. Among the things stolen were her MacBook Laptop, $3,000 in cash, her wallet and airline ticket.

I know this is scary for those of us who live in the neighborhood, as it is not the first time that something like this has happened. It is a reminder that we need to look out for our neighbors just as the man who came to her aid did, as well as be mindful of our surroundings.
